Academic year end gala for Fashion and Design school in Italy

Between Creativity and Reality

A design school cannot give up its artistic vocation - especially so if it is a design school in Italy, operating in Florence and Rome, fertile grounds for the affirmation of the highest artistic sensibility.

Still, today more than ever before, one feels the need to link the most extreme leaps of imagination to the solid reality of market and business requirements.

As a result, Fashion and Design: between creativity and reality is the best possible motto for a school of design and fashion based in Italy and which aims to stay in close contact with today's reality.

Besides, there is an Italian style that indicates how - in design and fashion - success is also determined by the combination of imagination and reality, of dreams and practical sense.

This is why Accademia Italiana, the top fashion and design school with headquarters in Florence and in Rome, chose NOT IN THE SKY - NOT UNDERGROUND as the theme for its academic year-end events which will be held in Florence on April 16, 2011 at the Saschall theater.

An international audience of more than 2,000 invited guests will be able to examine the results of the work of the students from the Italian design school's courses in Interior design, Product Design, Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Costume Design, and Photography.

The students' works will be showcased in an design exhibition on the first floor of the theater, which will open to the public in the afternoon. Then, in the evening, a fashion show introducing new trends will be presented.

There will also be a preview of the work done by a group of students as A Tribute to Giovanni Michelucci. The full version of this exhibit will later feature in September among the official events celebrating of the great Italian architect.

As for the past six years, during the gala the Accademia Italiana students will award the Pyramid of Excellence to illustrious guests who have contributed significant innovations in the fields of art, fashion and design.

Many VIPs have already confirmed their presence while in the School's workshops fashion and design students continue to work enthusiastically to offer their creations at the highest possible level.
